What is the treatment like?

Generally, there is a little discomfort during treatment, but this is very bearable.

Afterwards there is often some bruising and a little swelling and redness which take about 4 days to settle.

Lipodissolve fat-dissolving injections are a non-surgical method for reducing small, localized fat deposits on the face and body. The procedure is not a weight loss method but is rather aimed at eliminating small areas of excess fat (such as under the chin) to refine your profile and enhance your appearance.

How it works

Lipodissolve fat-dissolving injections involve injecting small amounts of phosphatidylcholine – a fat-dissolving liquid derived from soya beans – and deoxycholic acid directly into fat deposits, without the need for anesthesia or invasive surgery.

Both drugs are naturally secreted by our gallbladders to assist emulsifying the fat we consume.

When injected under the skin, these medications trigger a series of reactions that lead to two things: lipolysis and inflammation.

Lipolysis literally means loss of fat cells.

Different to what happens when we lose weight, fat cells do not just get smaller in size but are destroyed, leading to fewer fat cells in the targeted area.

This makes it far less likely for treated areas to go back to pre-treatment size with mild to moderate weight fluctuations.

The inflammation triggered during the procedure is very important.

Even though it causes swelling, redness, and some discomfort after the treatment, it is the inflammation that leads to collagen production.

This ensures good skin retraction and tightening when fat is reduced.

The procedure takes 15-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

The number of required treatments range between 2-4 sessions.

Results can be seen after 2-3 treatments over a period of 6 months. Intervals between treatments may be 6-8 weeks.

Lipodissolve fat-dissolving injections act as an adjunct to healthy eating habits and regular exercise, and not as a replacement. Patients are encouraged to undergo positive lifestyle changes to improve their treatment outcomes.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects of both injectable treatments are rare.

You may experience swelling, bruising, itching, pain, sensitivity to pressure and excessive warmth at the injection site however, this is usually resolved within three to five days.

Minimize risk by enlisting the help of a highly qualified doctor or nurse.

Lipodissolve fat-dissolving injections help to remove small, stubborn fat deposits in various areas of the body.

Rather than acting as a weight loss tool, the procedures use fat-dissolving injections to contour and sculpt areas of the body which typically hold small, localized pockets of fat.

The injections are a safe, non-surgical way to eliminate fat deposits and benign lipomas without surgery.

Private Fees apply for this procedure.
